Vadim Malkin"I create art in order to share my past memories and present concerns about the antiquation of customs and traditions." Vadim is a third generation artist, starting with his grandfather who was a notable sculptor in Moscow, Russia, and now his father, an award wining jeweler and enamellist working from his own gallery in St. Petersburg, Florida. With monumental predecessors, Vadim is striving towards prominence himself, and with an inherent talent, has found much success in his attempts.

In my work I attempt to investigate a transcendental facet of life, to find a soulful meaning to everyday living. My work reflects growth, change, and adaptation. Stemming from an idealistic perspective of childhood memories, I have found a fondness for the ceremonial aspects of the tradition of tea. This nightly ritual brings families and friends together as they lounge, sip, and discuss the day’s events and adversities.

Since graduating with his BFA, Vadim has been working on his ceramics as a Resident Artist at Crealdé School of Art, Winter Park FL. His work has been on display in numerous galleries, shops and shows throughout Florida, including Tallahassee, St. Petersburg, Gainesville, and international exhibitions like the Chung-ju Craft Bienniel, Korea, and the ICMEA emerging artist, China.
